Every colour is from §05 of the guide. Left pane is Chart for daylight, right pane is Hull for dawn and dusk. Nothing here is a toggle — the two are shown together so you can compare rather than switch. React 👍/👎/💬 on any block; a 👎 with a note is the most useful thing you can leave.
Header stays a raised surface in both themes. Archivo 900 wordmark. Active nav takes
Signal on light and Shoal on dark, because Signal is too dark to read
as text on Hull.
The one place Fraunces survives. Everything around it is Archivo and JetBrains
Mono, so the brief reads as prose against a technical frame. Link underlines are Buoy at 45%,
not solid — the accent still belongs to the CTA.
Low tide at 3:30 PM is the window for Marine Area 10, specifically Possession Bar. Water is 57.0°F, up half a degree, with pressure falling at 30.13in. Area 11 is closed for Chinook retention per WDFW, so skip that one. Run a flasher and hoochie at 60–80 feet.

The guide's rule, verbatim: if it's a measurement, it's mono. Values are mono 700 so a number is scannable at arm's length on a moving boat.
This is a fix, not a restyle. Today the chip text is coloured, and coloured text on a pale
tint cannot reach AA — Keep green on its own tint computes to 3.69:1. Moving the
colour into a dot and setting the label in ink gets the same signal at about 10:1.
Your outlook cards already do this.
Tints are color-mix alpha rather than fixed hexes, which is why these need no dark
variant at all — 12% green reads pale on Chart and deep on Hull from one definition. Every card
names WDFW, per §08's "honest about limits".
Your note from /marine/area-10: "put links to hotspot on a map". Each hotspot
becomes a real link with a pin affordance and a mono distance, so the name itself is the
tap target rather than a separate "view on map" action.
The guide's hardest rule: one orange thing per screen, maximum. Buoy goes to the single
action. Secondary is a Signal outline, tertiary is quiet ink. Every target clears 44px.
This also retires the rust #b4663a from your June brief redesign.
Guide scale: display 900, heading 800, body 400, data mono, labels mono caps. Fraunces is scoped to brief prose only, so three families load instead of four — and Fraunces is subset to the two weights those cards actually use.
Five text/surface pairs in today's production palette fail WCAG AA. These are computed, not eyeballed — the guard test in the repo measures them on every run, and every figure in this table was recomputed before publishing. The brand palette fixes four outright; the chips need the dot treatment in §04.
| Pair | Today | Proposed | How |
|---|---|---|---|
| Muted text on page | 7a8694 3.29:1 | 5C6B70 4.91:1 | The guide's Slate is simply darker than today's grey. No design change needed. |
| Muted text on card | 7a8694 3.71:1 | 5C6B70 5.54:1 | Same swap. |
| "Fair" rating chip | c87d20 2.96:1 | dot + ink 16.55:1 | Colour moves to the dot; label goes to ink. §04. |
| "Good" rating chip | 2683a3 3.72:1 | dot + ink 16.07:1 | Same. |
| "Excellent" rating chip | 2e8b57 3.78:1 | dot + ink 16.62:1 | Same. |
Guide: 4px — soft enough to feel modern, hard enough to feel like equipment. Today the app is 8px. Shown at the size it actually matters: a card corner and a button.
